Maya Mercado focuses on employment law matters.

Prior to joining Coblentz, Maya was a legal intern for California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc., where she conducted detailed review of court documents. She reviewed and edited client statements, researched county conviction records across multiple counties, and drafted, analyzed, and filed court documents pertaining to expungements and classification reductions to enable clients to seek employment. Maya’s experience also includes serving as a summer clerk with Coblentz, where she researched and drafted a corporate legal memo analyzing the Federal Trade Commission’s proposed legislation prohibiting noncompete agreements, and researched and drafted a brief for the labor and employment practice group regarding the potential effects on workplace affirmative action following the Supreme Court’s decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard.

Maya earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2025, where she was managing editor of the Intellectual Property and Technology Journal and a member of the Latino Law Students Association. She received her B.A. from the University of San Francisco in 2022, where she graduated cum laude.
